My intentions were to only give away three prizes. Here’s what I’ll give instead. The results for first were so close between Britney and Shelly. The results between Kathleen and Christine were really close too. So… here are the prizes:

2nd Place: $250 credit to Kate Ryan and Christine Savage
3rd Place: $100 credit to Lisa Neumann, Amy Van Riessen, Kim Fritz, Jennie Perry, & Heather Kendall

Papa | Portland Family Photographer

Sunday, April 18th, 2010

Last weekend was my birthday. I had a really nice day. I went to the zoo with my husband and the kids in the morning and got my hair cut in the afternoon. I ate well. Had Swedish pancakes with bananas, blueberries, a squeeze of lemon and powdered sugar for breakfast and delicious BLTs with salt & vinegar chips for dinner. It was a good day.

That night, my husband told me his brother was bringing his computer over for my husband to fix because it was attacked by a virus. At 9pm there was a knock on the door. My husband said he needed help bringing the computers in (weird – not the kind of thing he would need help with). I opened the door and saw some guy looking down at a piece of paper holding roses. He talked funny and said “uh, delivery for Miss Kristina Allori”. It took me about three seconds to go from being surprised that my husband got me flowers, to wonder why they were being delivered so late at night, to wondering why the delivery guy was kind of weird, to realizing that it was my dad! He flew up from CA for a visit! It was truly the best birthday surprise!

On Saturday we went to the Tulip Festival with my dad, my sister and her two boys, the hubby, my stepson, my two little ones, and my mommy. It was a really nice day.

My sister is going to die when she sees how cute this pic turned out. My nephews ADORE Papa.

Papa with my little man. I know, I know. It just doesn’t get any cuter than big squishy cheeks and a newsboy cap.
portland family photographer

We actually managed to get a pic of my dad with all four kids at least looking in the general direction. By the time we tried to get pics of the grandkids with my mom, we lost my oldest nephew. We are lucky enough to have my mom live close by so we can try again for a group pic. My daughter wasn’t really in the mood for pictures that day. :)

Who’s that in the middle? I guess you don’t get to see me too often because I’m always the one behind the camera.
portland family photographer

Nope. You can’t have him. That adorable little Pudge is all mine. I tried a texture on this photo. You like?
portland child photographer

If you go to the tulips on the weekend, they have all sorts of fun stuff like face painting, swings, activities for the kids, and good food! This little guy has one of the best personalities and he’s so adorable. I’m not just saying that cuz he’s my nephew either. He and my daughter love to hold hands.
portland child photographer

This is me trying to pan the camera. Ideally she would have been in focus and only the background would have been blurred, but I’ll take what I can get. I want one of these swings. Its made out of a single tire but is in the shape of a horse. Man she’s cute.
portland child photographer

And the best part of Papa’s visit? Pajama time in the morning! She used my dad’s gut as a trampoline. He got her back with tickles. (that green thing is a string from a balloon – I was too lazy to clone it out)

… and this little piggy ran wee wee wee wee wee all the way home!

Love you dad! Thank you so much for coming up to visit. We miss you!!!

Hands Full | Portland Family Photographer

Tuesday, April 13th, 2010

How can a mom and dad have a toddler and twin one-year-olds and still look this happy and sane? I have no idea. I barely made it through the first six months of having a toddler with a newborn. I bow down to any family that can juggle a toddler with twins (and surprisingly, I’m friends with three other families in this situation).

Congratulations on hitting such an awesome milestone – the twins’ first birthday! It was an absolute pleasure taking your family photos! Enjoy your preview…

I’m actually quite proud of this photo. I didn’t think it was possible to get everyone to look at the camera and be happy at the same time. I thought for sure I would need a little Photoshop head swapping magic.

Squishy love is the best kind.

Lovin’ those big blue eyes and the bit of drool. She can walk on her own but its oh so much more fun when daddy holds her hands.

Mom and her baby boy – is there a better combination?

Love this one.

I took this one right after I told mom to whisper something completely inappropriate into dad’s ear. I love both their expressions.

And one of my favorites. This is what you get when you try to pose a 3-year-old and 1-year-old twins for a group shot.

8 days new | Portland Newborn Photographer

Tuesday, April 6th, 2010

I was so excited to do these photos. It had been about 6 weeks since my last newborn session and I needed a fix. Bad. I just adored holding this tiny little sweet princess. She was born 3 weeks early and was so teeny tiny. Her head was so small and her limbs were so skinny. Poor little thing – she was jaundiced from birth and had to have the billy rubin lights on every day, all the time. Needless to say she was as red as a lobster. I should post a before and after to demonstrate the power of photoshop! She really was just perfect and such a sweetheart.

Aren’t the hats just adorable? They are courtesy of the wonderful and very talented Lil Miss Cheeky Etsy shop.

This one was my favorite. Her face looks so much like her dad’s here. I think her older brother and sister look so much like dad too!
portland newborn photographer

I love little round newborn bellies.
portland newborn photographer

And just look at those lips!
portland newborn photographer

I can never decide between color or black and white. I guess that’s why I give everyone both when they get their images. Its just too hard to decide.

She was so comfy squished up in that little ball.

Banana Bread | Portland Child Photographer

Wednesday, March 31st, 2010

The weather has been weird here lately. Last week we were teased with gorgeous blue skies and temperatures in the low 70s. For the past 7 days we’ve had lots of cold wet windy days. What do you do when you’re itching to take some new photos? Make some banana bread with your Sweetums! We used this recipe. I had all the ingredients except for 16oz of sour cream. I only had half a container so I substituted the rest with whole milk vanilla yogurt and I cut the sugar down by 1/2 cup. Oh man, it was goooooooood.

Mashing the bananas is the best part.
portland child photographer

Can you tell I’m a mom? Did the snack trap and bottle warmer give it away? Um…. the recipe didn’t say to only fill the loaf pans up half way. About 20min into cooking, I had to open the doors to let the smoke out. The batter was over flowing and burning up on my oven’s heating element. Gave the bread the slightest smokey flavor. Nice going, mom.

Did I say smashing the bananas was the best part? I take that back. Getting to lick the batter is DEFINITELY the best part.

Are you hungry yet?

Spring has Sprung | Portland Custom Photographer

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010

It is warm and gorgeous outside. I even got a little hot when I was playing with my kids out front. I can’t remember the last time I actually felt hot from the sun. I feel like a big grizzly bear coming out of hibernation.

I am so excited for Tulip Festival! It starts tomorrow. I’ve been going every year since I moved up here. I took the shots below last year with a macro lens that I rented. I’ve never fallen in love so fast. It was love at first focus. I adored that macro lens not only for the close up shots, but for portraits as well. Some of my favorite photos of my kids were taken when I rented that lens for a weekend. Needless to say I immediately bought one for myself and I use it for almost all my portrait sessions. It’s tack sharp… and I love it.

Happy Spring!

Loved this Family | Portland Family Photographer

Tuesday, March 23rd, 2010

They reminded me so much of my own. Their kids were almost the same ages as mine too. Both kids were so sweet. The little girl got shy when she knew she was being watched and the little boy would have much rather played and explored than have his picture taken – just like mine. Maybe that’s why I enjoyed editing them so much. I found myself smiling more with each picture.

Enjoy your sneak peek!

This was one of my favorites from the session. Anyone who has little kids knows it can be challenging to get them to look at the camera and smile. Well this Dad knew just the trick. He ran up the hill with his son on his shoulders, then back down, and he paused just long enough to look at the camera and get happy natural expressions. Poor guy was probably worn out after our session – he must have run up and down the hill a dozen times taking turns with both kids.
portland family photographer

Love this one too. This is the kind of picture I want to see taken every year – same location, same hand holding order – just to see how much bigger the kids get. Won’t be long before they’re just as tall as mom and dad.
portland family photographer

Look at those lashes!
portland family photographer

Can you feel the love?
portland family photographer

I love Mom’s expression in this one. I guess we know where her daughter got those nice eyelashes from. So pretty!

First Day of Spring – CONTEST!!! | Portland Custom Photographer

Saturday, March 20th, 2010

This is officially the first week of Spring. Around this time of year, Oregonians feel like they’re starting to come out of hibernation after a long winter of cold, dark, wet and dreary days. I am loving the longer days, warmer temperatures and colorful flowers blooming all around. It makes me want to be outside taking non-stop photos. SPRING is the theme for this contest.

Here’s how it’ll work:
1. Send me a photo that just screams spring. It can be of yourself, your kids, a flower, whatever, but you must be the person who took the photo. You have until Sunday, April 4th to send it in. Email it to krissy@krissyallori.com. Only one photo per family please.
2. On Monday, April 5th, I will upload all of the photos to an album on my Facebook Fan Page.
3. Fans will then be able to vote for their favorite photo. In order to vote, the word VOTE must appear as a comment under the picture (don’t worry – you won’t get a million emails every time someone votes… an email notification will only be sent out if I leave a comment under that picture). Voting will be open for two weeks and will close at midnight on Monday, April 19th.

The Prizes
1st Place: $500 credit
2nd Place: $250 credit
3rd Place: $100 credit

Terms & Conditions:
1. Only one vote per person. Any duplicate votes will be deleted.
2. Prizes must be redeemed no later than June 30,2010. The credit will not apply to any sessions that take place after June 30. The session must take place in the surrounding areas of Portland, Oregon. Credit to be used only towards the purchase of one of three Collections offered by Krissy (see my website for Collection details and pricing). If entire credit is not used, the balance may not be carried over to additional sessions.
3. To qualify, a signed model release will be required prior to the session.

Let the fun begin!

Perfect | Portland Family Photographer

Tuesday, March 16th, 2010

After each session, I always think about what I’m going to write in my blog post. All I could think after this session was Perfect. Perfect family – they are all gorgeous and incredibly loving with one another. Perfect wardrobe – I about died when I saw what she brought for them to wear. Not only did she bring multiple outfits, but EVERYTHING was coordinated down to the accessories. Perfect location – and I’m excited that my next session is there too. Perfect light – loving the overcast skies with no rain. The hardest part about this session was narrowing down the best images to post, and that’s a problem I don’t mind having.

Can’t wait to hear what you think!

We’ll start with my absolute favorite. I really, I mean REALLY, hope this is the one they choose for their 24×36 canvas. If they do, I might just have to hang it on my wall for a few weeks before they get it. That’s how much I love this photo.
