Favorite | Portland Baby Photographer

Thursday, June 24th, 2010

I definitely got some new favorite photos with this little guy. In fact, I couldn’t stop scrolling through my camera during the session because I couldn’t believe the expressions this little guy was giving me. He was absolutely FANTASTIC. So happy and expressive. We was so good – I got so many good photos that I’m only showing a handful in this blog post. I got to hold the little guy and didn’t want to give him back. I shouldn’t at all be surprised that he has such a wonderful personality – his parents are truly two of the nicest people I’ve met. They own and run Mark’s NW Fresh Produce Click HERE to be his FB fan to receive all the latest announcements. They are so nice that you think “there’s no way someone could be that nice. I’m not that nice. No way is it possible.” Yet, I have never seen Mark be anything but social and friendly to everyone that comes to the stand. He also knows name of every customer, kids included. How does he do this? I have no idea. I can’t remember a name for the life of me. Ask any of my clients – I study their names before the session and still can’t get them right! Anyway, if you’re local, the stand is on the corner of NW 185th and West Union in the Mad Greek parking lot. Its the only place I get my produce, but I’ll have to stop bringing my kids because they steal eat berries faster than I can buy them.

Anyway, back to the cutest 4 month old ever… would it be weird if I hung photos of him in my house? That’s how cute I think they are.

Hope you enjoy them!

My kids never enjoyed tummy time this much.

HOORAY!!!

I just love this one. I would have loved to have had a shot like this of myself and my babies when they were that little. Sniff. Now I can barely lift the pudges. :)

Isn’t it amazing how much joy a little human can bring to a family?

I couldn’t decide whether I should post this pic or the one of him eating his foot. Equally cute.

And here’s my secret weapon – big brother was behind the camera getting me all those super cute baby smiles. Baby adores his big brother!

I couldn’t choose which 10×20 I liked best so I posted all four. I love how quickly his expressions change.

Kind | Portland Family Photographer

Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010

This is one of the sweetest, kindest families you’ll come across. Dad is super smart and always willing to help. Mom is so sweet and genuine. Both kids have the most gentle natured personalities, and its so easy to see that they just adore mom and dad. Plus, they did an outstanding job coordinating their outfits – gotta love it! Hope you guys enjoy your sneak peek!

This was my favorite family photo from the session:

Both kids are roughly the same age as mine, yet I was totally shocked how well they listened and followed instructions. Hmmm…

Christopher | Portland High School Senior Photographer

Thursday, June 10th, 2010

I had the best time photographing Christopher. There aren’t too many people out there who are so completely comfortable in front of the camera, but he totally made my job easy. This guy has the best personality and I loved his laugh. Either there weren’t guys like him around when I was in High School, or there were and I just didn’t appreciate them. I love how his personality really shines through in the photos. He plays quite a few instruments and he brought his Euphonium along for some of the shots. If you watch the Rose Parade this weekend, keep your eyes out for this guy and cheer him on!

He was such a goof! Thanks for such a fun photo session, Christopher!

Cake Smash!!! | Portland Baby Photographer

Wednesday, June 9th, 2010

Oh Miss Kayla, I’m so glad that you love to sit in a tutu and eat chocolate cake! You were so easy to photograph. I loved that the only thing that upset you was when we were all done and we took the cake away. You are such a sweet little princess! I look forward to photographing that sweet gorgeous face in the years to come.

Happy first birthday, Baby Kayla!

Great Friends | Portland Custom Photographer

Tuesday, June 8th, 2010

My best friend from college, Malynda, and her husband, Ian, came up to visit us this past weekend. Malynda and I have been buds since college and neither of us can believe its been over 10 years since we graduated. Sheesh, that makes me feel old. They usually make a visit up here at least once a year. They love Oregon as well as the outdoors, and I wonder if they ever tire of me begging them to move up here.

Anyway, we were looking for something to do on Saturday and someone happened to email us the link to the Tree to Tree Aerial Adventure Course. Our eyes lit up when we saw the website. They said they just opened Memorial Day weekend. We thought that meant seasonally, but it turns out they just opened for business. We had so much fun! For their first week open to business, we were so impressed with their business and can’t wait to go back. Luckily we took two cars. The kids allowed me to do a couple (beginner level) courses before I took them home for a little quiet time while Malynda, Ian and the husband stayed behind for a few more hours to play. If I had stayed, I don’t know if I would have had the guts to do the black diamond course, but I plan on going back to try real soon. Anyway, here are a few snaps from our aerial adventure day.

I’m the one with the scared-out-of-my-mind-but-having-oh-so-much-fun look on my face.

Mellow | Portland Family Photographer

Wednesday, May 26th, 2010

This cute little baby is so sweet and mellow. He’s just a “go with the flow kind of guy” (complete opposite from my little ones, but I love them). He’s quite the ladies man too. Yeah, he’s got a thing for the ladies and the ladies have a thing for him. Poor little man wasn’t feeling too well when we took the photos, but he’s normally a smiley, flirtatious little dude. He may be sweet and mellow now, but I’m guessing his parents are going to have to keep a close eye on him when he’s older. :)

His parents just totally adore him. As they should.

Here’s just a quick sneak peak…

I love this one. He’s not even 10 months yet and can’t stand on his own, but with a little help from the wall, his arms out for balance, and some concentration and sheer determination, he was glowing with accomplishment. Too cute.

Hazelnuts | Portland Child Photographer

I love hazelnut groves. They make the best setting for photos. I like hazelnut coffee creamer too. Oh yeah, and nutella. Wow, hazelnuts are great!

And a few pics to share…

Stunning | Portland Family Photographer

Tuesday, May 18th, 2010

Stunning. Pure and simple.

Take a beautiful and loving family, put them in a gorgeous setting with fabulous evening light, add in a well coordinated wardrobe, and throw in a photographer who loves what they do, and you end up with some simply stunning photos.

I had the pleasure, and it was truly a pleasure, to photograph my friend Jackie and her boys. What a fun little session we had. I think it was only about 45min long and so much fun! Each of her boys, husband included, have such personalities, and they’re all different. Dad is super sweet and you can just tell he’s gaga over Jackie and their insanely cute kids. Their oldest son kept suggesting different compositions and posed like a perfect model. I turned him bright red when I said “If only I were 8 years old again.” Their middle son cracked me up. I could create a separate blog posts with 20 images of him – all with different expressions. And their baby has the sweetest most gentle soul and eyelashes that could sweep the floor.

This needs to be a canvas. A big canvas. I just love how the background looks like its wrapped around them.

I looooooooove this one. Totally one of my favs.

Photographer’s trick: let boys run at the beginning of a session. Its like taking your puppy for a long walk before attempting to groom him. :)

You know when you see a couple and you can just tell that they are truly and deeply in love? Yeah, that.

I’m not sure which photo I like more. :)

Sweetness | Portland Family Photographer

Thursday, April 29th, 2010

Some photographers prefer more to shoot than to edit. There are some that love to edit more than shoot. I think I love both shooting and processing equally, but for different reasons. I love shooting because I get to interact with my clients. I get to have a vision and record it with my camera. I never know what kind of expressions or looks I’m going to get. I love processing the photos because I can sit and stare at what I have captured. I can look at a photo that only happened because I happened to press the shutter at that exact right moment, and then I can just sit and admire the love and sweetness that I see.

Sweet is the word that came to my mind during and after this session. There was something about this young family that was just sweet. I have no other way to describe it. Not only were they sweet with the way they talked to each other, but you could feel it in the way they looked at each other. You’ll see what I’m talking about in the pictures below.

This is exactly what I’m talking about. Look at how calm and serene little man is knowing that mom and dad are right there. Look at how mom’s expression is overflowing with adoring love and dad just looks so proud. I just love it.
portland family photographer

Isn’t he the cutest?
portland family photographer

Another one of my favorites. Dad was just out of frame, ready to jump in and pull the rocks out of his mouth. Little boys sure do love to eat rocks.
portland child photographer

Again, sweet. It just makes my heart melt. Look at little man’s hand on dad’s face.
portland family photographer

I love this age. They love to stand and point and smile.
portland baby photographer

You know why I love these? 1) They make me smile. 2) He just got his top teeth in a day or two before our session and you can totally see them. Such a sweet personality on this little guy!
portland child photographer

Just gorgeous.
portland baby photographer

Just sweet. There’s that word again!

I can only imagine what dad is saying to mom. :)

just for fun | Portland Custom Photographer

Friday, April 23rd, 2010

I met up with my friend and fellow photographer, Jackie, of Jean Photography just to take some fun pictures of each other. I wanted to scout out a new location to see if it would work for photos, and I just like hanging out with Jackie because she’s just so darn cool and I always learn a lot from her. I’m always the one behind the camera so its very good for me to have my picture taken once in awhile. It helps me understand how you feel. It makes me aware of how hard it sometimes is to look natural. It also reminds me that good direction from the photographer not only makes the subject feel more comfortable, but also results in a beautiful natural photo.

Without futher delay, I present the sweet, fun and beautiful Jackie…

I love the reflection of the sky in her glasses, and she has such a fun expression.

And this is me… These are so tough for me to post because I’m not a fan of looking at a picture of myself, but figured you guys would like to see the photographer behind the camera.

People were saying that I look like the blonde girl, Elliot, on Scrubs. Its hard for me to see because I just see me, you know? What do you think?
portland custom photographer

I usually wear lip gloss. I couldn’t find it so I put lip liner on. Note to self: stick with lip gloss. :)
portland custom photographer

I love this one. I think its really cool. I showed my husband and he said “cheesey” (if you know my husband, you aren’t surprised by his comment). Not cheesey because of the beautiful photo Jackie took, but cheesey because he knows I don’t wear aviator glasses. :)
