Beautiful kids, gorgeous vinyard | Portland Child Photographer

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

It isn’t often that we get a dry day in December here in Oregon. It was absolutely freezing out, but we had some beautiful sunshine. These two cuties live on the most beautiful piece of land in Portland’s west hills, complete with farm animals and a gorgeous vinyard. I look forward to returning when the weather warms up to see the changing grapes and taste their wine.

Here’s a quick sneak peek at our session…

Is she not the cutest? Nothing like that bond between a dad and his baby girl.

the best Christmas ever | Lucky Portland Photographer

Monday, December 28th, 2009

Not only was I surrounded by my family, my beautiful kids are happy and healthy, and we weren’t snowed in like last year, but Santa (aka husband) surprised me with the best gift ever! You have to really know him to appreciate his sense of humor. Christmas morning I open a box to a brand new Nikon D700 – a camera body I’ve been drooling over for quite some time. Because I do know my husband’s sense of humor, I hesitantly opened the box and sure enough he put my D200 inside. He filmed the whole thing and thought it was hilarious. At this point, I don’t know if he borrowed our friend’s D700 box (which is what he wanted me to believe) or he really did get me the camera and was messing with me. Two days go by and I’m starting to think he really was messing with me. We celebrated Christmas with his side of the family yesterday. I grabbed my camera bag to snap a few pics and what’s in there waiting for me? Yup.

Is it possible to be in love with something made of metal, plastic and exquisite glass? I say yes. I’ve only taken a few photos and I’m already madly in love.

Dear D200,
You were my first love. You fostered my love and obsession for photography. You have always been trustworthy and dependable. You have captured photographs of my children that I will forever cherish. I will always remember you and now you are my trusty back up camera.
Yours truly, Krissy

10lbs 5oz of squishy newborn love | Portland Newborn Photographer

Tuesday, December 22nd, 2009

I had the honor of photographing this sweet squishy cuddly “little” 11 day old newborn, who weighed in at 10lbs 5oz at birth. You can see her mommy’s maternity photo’s here, taken a little over 3 weeks before little miss made her arrival.

She was the most perfect baby to photograph. She was in a milk coma the entire time and if she started to fuss, a little warm air from the space heater and a gentle rub on her cheek instantly put her back into a deep sleep. I really tried hard to narrow it down to my favorites to post here on the blog, but as you can see there were just too many. I actually have a ton more that I didn’t post!

I was super excited to use my new hats from my favorite knitter. Here’s a link to her Etsy shop if you are intersted: The Funky Hooker

She arrived just in time for Christmas.

I’m a sucker for back fat rolls too. Not on me, of course, but definitely on a squishy newborn.

And some macro shots to capture those details that fade way too fast, as any mom knows.

Christmas came early | Portland Child Photographer

Monday, December 14th, 2009

I was so excited to get this package in the mail, I just had to share. All of these hats came from my favorite knitter, the Funky Hooker – don’t you just love that name? Direct from Australia. Here’s a link to her Etsy shop: Funky Hooker Etsy Shop

I can’t wait to use them for the newborn photo shoot I have later this week! Love love love them!

These came just in the Nick of time (get it? St. Nick?)

The top two are newborn size (perfect for the twins I’ll be doing in February) and the bottom one is 9-12months)

Both of these are newborn size. The flower on the pink one can be removed. Ooooh, I’m going to have so much fun with these!

And, of course, I couldn’t pass up taking some photos of my favorite toddler with this hat.
